February 19, 2006 - NAHA Wins Championship

At the end of a great season there needs to be a great champion and a terrific championship game.  The league saw both on Sunday at Trinity College School where NAHA outlasted a tough Ridley squad 4-1 after taking care of Gilmour Academy and NSA in the quarter final and semi final 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.  Congratulations to a tremendous inaugural championship team.

February 17, 2006 - Nichols, NAHA win Division Titles

Nichols School and the North American Hockey Academy were crowned MacLeod Division and McMaster Division champions respectively today.  NAHA finished atop their division with a league best 7-1-2 record while Nichols School finished with a 6-1-3 record.

January 30, 2006 - Ridley, Gilmour bow to Rattlers 1-0

With four NAPHA teams competing at the Brian Proctor International Invitational Hockey Tournament at Trinity College School it took the Toronto Rattlers with two tough fought 1-0 wins against Gilmour Academy and Ridley College in the Semi and Championship Finals respectively to take home the trophy.  Ridley finished the tournament 3-1-1 with only one goal against but the goal proved costly as that would be the difference in the final game.

January 16, 2006 - NAHA takes Adirondack Tournament

NAHA Red went a perfect 5-0 including a 3-2 victory in the championship final against NSA in the Adirondack Northstars Tournament.  NAHA also posted victories against Troy Albany, South Shore, Mid State Golden Blades and the Philadephia Little Flyers.

January 9, 2006 - Great Hockey Weekend at Nichols School

Sixteen more fast, competitive games changed nothing in the standings and left both Nichols School and NAHA at the top of their divisions.  It was also made clear that any team can win any game with most teams finishing around .500 for the weekend's effort.

Next stop for the league is Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario for the final two league games and the playoff series on February 17, 18 and 19.

December 29, 2005 - Christmas Tourneys have NAPHA Flavor

Many of our member clubs competed in some exciting Christmas Tournament action.  Trinity and Nichols both traveled to Deerfield Academy in Western Massachusetts for their annual Christmas Invitational.  Both teams finished with a 1-3 record and ended up tied for fourth place.  Brewster Academy ended the tournament as the only 4-0 team.

Northwood, NSA and Gilmour Academy all participated in the Cushing Academy Tournament.  Northwood finished the round-robin 3-0 before bowing to Berkshire in the final 4-2.  NSA and Gilmour finished with 2-2 and 1-3 records respectively.

NSA and NAHA will both compete alongside Northwood at the Northwood School New Year's tournament this weekend.

At post time, NAHA had finished the round robin at the Polar Bears Tournament with a 3-1 record and had qualified for the Quarter Finals.

December 6, 2005 - Opening Weekend is a Hit!

The NAPHA opening weekend was nothing short of tremendous.  All teams competed well with Nichols School and NAHA coming out of the weekend undefeated.  Many thanks must go to Jay Tredway and his crew at Ridley College for hosting a great event.  The league truly was launched in style and there are certainly some games that will be anticipated as we move into the New Year and the second tournament weekend at Nichols School.

October 23, 2005 - Divisions Named

The two divisions in the NAPHA will be named after the two head coaches of the U.S. and Canadian women's national teams at the first world championship in 1990.  Don MacLeod led the U.S squad and Dave McMaster guided the Canadian team to a 5-2 victory in Ottawa.

Coach MacLeod, one of the winningest coaches in NCAA women's hockey (Northeastern University), was flattered when told of the plans to have his name on top of one of the divisions.  Click here to read text from a Sports Illustrated article about the 1990 World Championship.  Click here to read the Ottawa Citizen article about the game.

Coach McMaster passed away in 2003 after a superb coaching career at the University of Toronto.  He continued to coach girls' hockey at the Bishop Strachan School in Toronto until his death.
